Authorship and Contributorship
Purpose and Commitment
Jurnal Antropologi: Isu-Isu Sosial Budaya is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in authorship and contributorship. This policy ensures proper recognition is given for contributions to published works while fostering transparency, accountability, and fairness. The journal adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Criteria for Authorship
To qualify as an author, individuals must meet all the following criteria:
- Substantial Contribution
- Demonstrated significant involvement in the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.
- Drafting and Revision
- Actively participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for key intellectual content.
- Approval of Final Version
- Provided approval for the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.
- Accountability
- Accepted responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work and is prepared to address or resolve any issues arising from it.
Contributorship
Individuals who contributed to the research or manuscript but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Contributors or Acknowledgments section. Examples of contributorship include:
- Data collection or management
- Technical support
- Editorial assistance
- Funding acquisition or administrative support
Authorship Declaration
- All authors must complete and submit an Authorship and Contribution Form detailing their specific contributions to the manuscript.
- The corresponding author bears responsibility for ensuring that all authors agree with the manuscript content and authorship list.
- Any discrepancies or disputes among authors must be resolved before submission.
Changes to Authorship
Requests to alter the authorship list (e.g., adding, removing, or reordering authors) after submission must adhere to the following:
- A written justification from the corresponding author must be provided.
- Signed agreements from all original and proposed authors must be included.
- The editorial team will review and approve the request.
If disputes remain unresolved, they will be referred to the authors' institutions or funding bodies for arbitration in accordance with COPE guidelines.
Equal Credit for Contributions
If multiple authors have made equal contributions, this must be clearly indicated in the manuscript, typically through a byline or a footnote.
Prevention of Authorship Misconduct
The journal strictly prohibits unethical authorship practices, including:
- Gift Authorship: Crediting individuals who did not significantly contribute to the work.
- Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who made significant contributions.
- Honorary Authorship: Including individuals based solely on status or connections.
Suspected cases of misconduct will be investigated following the journal's Policy on Allegations of Misconduct.
Contributor Roles and Acknowledgment (CRediT)
The journal encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to explicitly define individual contributions under categories such as:
- Conceptualization
- Methodology
- Software
- Validation
- Writing – Original Draft Preparation
- Writing – Review and Editing
- Visualization
- Supervision
- Project Administration
- Funding Acquisition
Transparency and Integrity
The journal reserves the right to request additional documentation or clarification regarding authorship and contributorship. Non-compliance with ethical standards may result in manuscript rejection, retraction of published work, or reporting to institutional authorities.
Review and Updates
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure alignment with evolving best practices and compliance with COPE guidelines and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.
