It may be made of a strong material such as aluminum, wood, or very hard plastic, and is hollow, making it very lightweight. They could also be called a mini self defense baton.The kubaton was developed in the 1960's by Takayuki Kubota, and was initially designed for female LAPD officers as a tool to restrain suspects without permanent injury.
